FLUTE PERFORMANCE

Music has been a constant in my life from a young age.

My mom played flute through college in Texas and Mississippi, and my grandparents were also both in their school band programs, all playing wind instruments - oboe, clarinet, french horn. My sister and I both started off taking piano lessons — I began learning at age 5 and continued taking lessons through my undergraduate years. I love piano! But I always just knew I would also join band like my sister, and have never looked back.

Playing flute has brought me the best friends, experiences, and mentors who have shaped the way I view the world and live my life. I love to play the flute and I also love to have a life that is so much more than just my identity as a flutist — flute is part of the fabric of my entire life and I hope I can help other people find a positive and enriching place for flute and music in their lives, too.

I enjoy flute because it lets me connect with others.

My favorite musical experiences all revolve around the people who were with me at the time. Playing the flute has always brought me the most joy through its communal aspects — sharing a goal with fellow musicians on stage or seeing an audience member connect with something they hear — rather than any individual achievement.

Today, I love having the freedom and opportunity to explore varied performance opportunities throughout Texas. Read more about the types of performances I am currently available for below, or check my calendar for upcoming events.

Today, my performing life spans orchestral, chamber, and solo settings across Texas and beyond.

I appear regularly as a freelance flutist and piccoloist with regional ensembles in Houston and across the state, and I am a core member of Monarch Chamber Players and Emissary Quartet. My work as a performer is driven by a curiosity for diverse repertoire and a commitment to creating engaging, thoughtful concert experiences for a wide range of audiences.

CHAMBER

Monarch Chamber Players is a Houston-based collective of classical musicians dedicated to taking music out of the concert hall and into accessible community spaces. I am currently Executive Director and flutist in MCP, and it makes up a large part of my professional life! We perform in flexible instrumentation configurations, and present many concerts per year, from porch Christmas carols, to curated repertoire alongside exhibits at the Museum of Fine Arts, to full indoor concerts featuring landmark chamber works.

Emissary Quartet is a fully self-run professional flute quartet, comprised of members who span the country. Our debut album, [moment]um, releases in July 0f 2026 on the Orchid Classics label. EQ will be performing at the National Flute Association convention in Portland this August, followed by a residency in Boston in the fall of 2026. Past projects include interdisciplinary programs such as Emissary Artists (Live music and painting in Houston, TX) and UTILITY and HARBOR (music and dance alongside Synchronous in NYC). EQ regularly commissions new works, visits universities for guest classes, and performs across the United States in a variety of eclectic programs featuring the entire flute family.

SOLO

While familiar with many pieces that are commonly played from the flute repertoire, I enjoy exploring pieces by composers which may be less familiar to audiences.

Of special interest is repertoire by composers of Indian descent, as performed in my final doctoral lecture recital and at the 2024 National Flute Association convention in San Antonio, TX.
